Materials & Manufacturing
Leather:
Our leather comes from two of Italy’s most prestigious tanneries, Conceria Tempesti and Conceria Walpier. With their combined 125 years of experience, they maintain traditional production methods as founding members of the Consortium for Real Italian Vegetable-Tanned Leather. Together with other tanneries, they regulate, and preserve old-school tanning techniques in the region of Tuscany.
.
Dyed with natural tannins from tree bark, roots, and other vegetable matter, natural variance in color is expected and part of its beauty. When you first receive your product, the leather will have a stiff handfeel. With use and over time, it will develop a natural softness. Vegetable tanned leather will develop a beautiful patina from the oils in your skin through daily use, deepening in color. This is part of the natural aging and beauty of leather. Because vegetable tanned leather is naked type leather, avoid contact with liquid.
Zippers:
Since 1887, Giovanni Lanfranchi S.p.A. has been manufacturing all manner of fastening solutions from buttons to Lampo zippers. We've selected the SuperLampo line of zipper tape, which is well known for its superior sliders, smooth operation, and high quality finish.
Manufacturing:
Our leathergoods are made in a small workshop in Ubrique, the center of leathergoods production in Spain. One of the so-called 'white villages' in Andalucia, the entire town seems dedicated to leathergoods. Brands big and small are made at workshops that dot the town. We've had the good fortune to spend time in Ubrique and visit several of the small family-run workshops where our leathergoods are made.
